Joseph Krans - 2025
Imagine life as a vast, flowing stream—
Carrying with it the promise of fullness and possibility.
Inviting us to embrace the journey of becoming all we were created to be.
Yet the message we often hear urges us to go against the current—
To reach for the shoreline, where we can make our own way,
Carving out a path in pursuit of happiness and all that we desire.
We spend much of our lives planning and striving,
Convinced that we can control our ultimate destination.
We struggle upstream, pouring our energy into reaching the banks,
Believing that there we’ll find stability, certainty, and peace.
But what if true fullness of life awaits not on the shore,
But at the journey’s end—where the stream finally leads?
What if the fulfillment of our deepest desires
Is discovered in surrendering to the flow,
Rather than in resisting and fighting against it?
Yielding to the current does not promise a life of ease.
Instead, we are carried through gentle ebbs and sudden surges,
Navigating around rocks, braving turbulent waters,
And even cascading over vast waterfalls.
Along the way, we find tranquil pools of relaxation.
As we learn to let go, we experience great peace and freedom.
The flow of life—the flow of God—
Invites us into simplicity, humility, surrender, and joy.
Hardships become opportunities to grow and transform.
Our pain, suffering, brokenness, and scars
Are gradually softened by the persistent flow of the water.
And in the end—
Though we know not when or how—
Our destination offers hope and assurance:
Love and grace beyond our wildest dreams.
